Parenting Lesson #1: Don't buy expensive toys!

After asking my friends last week what toys I should buy Parker as he gets older, they both quickly responded and said DO NOT BUY EXPENSIVE toys, Parker will be happy with the empty bottles in your recycling bin. Although I trust their wisdom, I felt it necessary to make sure that Parker had all the appropriate developmental gadgets...hence, this purchase below:

But Pete and I quickly learned that we should have listened to our friends...Parker found the NY Times much more entertaining!

YES. So true. Sam buys Ryder a lot of garage sale toys that are in brand new condition b/c if he doesn't play with it long, she's only paid $1 for it. We bought a $200 train table with tracks etc and it's in his room. He has all of his trains in the living room and makes tracks on the carpet instead of using the table.

Yep! It is true. Wait til Christmas. He will love the wrapping paper and boxes better than the actual gift.

Very cute pics. Very cute boy.

Sorry to agree :). We left most of Gabe's toys in the basement when we had our house on a tour (in may) and they are still there! He hasn't noticed a bit!
Cute costume Pete!
Also I am now inspired to have a sushi party...we LOVE sushi and what a fun way to share!
